Several members of Rio Grande Kennel Club belong to the American Kennel Club’s Canine Ambassador Program. This great program is for all levels of school age children and includes handouts, videos, and hands-on activities. Canine Ambassadors and their dogs are available for presentations at schools, libraries, youth groups, churches, and summer programs.
Presentation topics include:
- what kind of dog is best for your family,
- how to care for your dog,
- what your dog can do for you,
- what you must do for your dog,
- how to approach an unknown dog,
- what to do if a vicious dog starts to attack
- fun things to do with your dog,
- and more!
Most children love dogs but really don’t know much about them. We advocate responsible dog ownership. Starting to educate children while they are young will lead to a much more dog friendly society.
